Small group counseling is designed to promote academic, social, and personal success for all students.  Small groups are formed based on the needs of the students at Richlands Primary and may vary from year to year.  Anyone may refer a student to participate in small group counseling including teachers, parents, mentors, or even students themselves.  Small groups are typically made up of 5-12 students and last approximately 6-8 weeks.

Liberty Kids is a support group for military children who have parents that are deployed.  This group utilizes partner activities, group discussion, storytelling, and technology to help students develop coping skills related to the absence of a parent.

The Lego Social Skills group is designed for students who need additional support with social skill development.  Each meeting, students learn about an important topic such as greeting others, controlling anger, or cooperation and then they are allowed to practice their new skills using Lego blocks.  This is the most popular small group!

Small counseling groups are determined by the needs of Richlands Primary's students so new ideas are welcomed!  If you would like for your child to participate in a small group, please contact Ms. McGirt.

The Girls Group is designed to help young girls build sef-esteem and confidence.  Each meeting, the girls discuss topics such as healthy body image, bullying, peer pressure, and relationship building.  They also work together on crafts and other projects associated with the week's theme.
